Im looking at getting into copics and want to know where to start. Do i get the sketch ones or the ciao ones? If anyone out there that reads my blog could help that would be great
Hi Sheree,I hope you and your daughter are well.I have the copic ciao's they are cheaper, they do hold less ink and you cannot use them with the air brush. The sketch hold more ink,are more expensive and can be used with the air brush and they do have alot more colours. I purchased the Ciao's because they were cheaper and I wasn't interested in an air brush. And,as for the ink well they can all be refilled anyway.I do have all of the Ciao colours and am now just purchasing a few sketch markers at a time to add to my colours,I find it cheaper this way.Anyway that is just a quick rundown,I don't think I have forgotten anything. It really just comes down to personal choice,if you are going to get the air brush and how much you can spend.I hope this helps.
Hi Sheree, Cheryl has summed it up beautifully. Ciaos were designed for the craft market. there are lots of tutorials on youtube that explain how the colouring system works and also how to use them. The store i bought mine from put together a 'starter kit' which had 2 shades of the colours you would typically need to get started. i can let you know what they are if you like.I went to an all day workshop to learn to use them and that was great.
Thanks heaps cheryl for you help. I think i am going to start off with the ciao ones and see how i go they seem the cheapest and im just learning so these sound the best. off to do some more searching around as they seem to vary greatly in prices.
I have a mix of both and basically get what is on sale when I can :) You can use the Ciaos wiith an airbrush you just have to shim it a bit.. we did this once at a scrapbook class I went to. I also fill in with my sharpies and bic markers too.
